What is the difference between CAD, CAM AND CIM

CAD/CAM involves the use of computers to make Design and Manufacturing more profitable.

• Parts of CIM use CAD/CAM techniques and products to try and make the factory fully connected using computers.

• The essential difference is CAD/CAM provides the tools, CIM is the philosophy which is used when organizing the computers, programs, etc. and all the information that flows between them.

• Another way to think of CIM is that it allows the structure of an organization to be entered into the computers.

• CIM focuses on connecting the various CAD/CAM modules.

Animation in Pro/ENGINEER

Pro/E Animation is used to visualize the motion of a mechanism or a mechanical assembly in operation.
Pro/E Animation is carried out by:
(i) coordinating the components of an animation sequence, and
(ii) playing back the animation.

Different from ordinary Kinematics Motion function of Pro/E, the Design Animation function in the Animation module of Pro/E Wildfire is more about showing the motion of a concept mechanism design.

The motion can be illustrated by dragging the moving
components, or by interpolating a number of positions of the mechanism. It may not honor all of the constraints defined in the design. One can carry out Animation before the detailed assembly is completed.

Processes

Whenever one or more of the properties of a system change, we say that a change occur.
The path of the succession of states through which the system passes is called the process.

Different types of processes are

1)Constant volume - Isobaric process.
2)Constant pressure – Isochronic process.
3)Constant temperature – Isothermal process.
4)Polytropic process.
5)Isentropic - Constant entropy process.

Purpose Of Heat Exchanger

1. To heat or cool a stream flowing from item of equipment to another. The stream may be gas liquid or mixture of both.

2. To vaporize a liquid stream.

3. To condense a vapor stream.
